Drake Reunites With French Montana On “No Stylist”

When French Montana previewed several tracks from his upcoming album at Tao Downtown nightclub in New York City in late August, fans honed in on his latest collaboration with Drake. Earlier this week, French revealed that the London On Da Track-produced song is titled “No Stylist.” As previously rumored, the track features Drake taking his latest shot at Kanye West.

On his verse, Drake alludes to Kanye’s Yeezy Boost 350 sneakers:

Keepin' it G, I told her don’t wear no 350s ‘round me

The song appears to have been recorded before Kanye’s recent mea culpa to Drake. In a series of tweets, the G.O.O.D. Music founder apologized for not letting the Toronto rapper have the “Lift Yourself” beat, “stepping on” the release date of Scorpion, and not getting involved with Pusha-T’s Drake diss on “Infrared.”

In an earlier appearance on Chicago’s WGCI radio station, Kanye also denied giving Pusha the information about Drake’s child that was the lynchpin for “The Story of Adidon,” the scorched earth diss track that answered Drake’s “Infrared” response “Duppy Freestyle.”

Meanwhile, Drake and French have collaborated frequently in the past. In 2012, they both appeared on Rick Ross‘ mixtape cut “Stay Schemin” before connecting on “Pop That” from French’s debut album Excuse My French.

The duo’s most notable track together is 2016’s “No Shopping.” It reached No. 36 on the Billboard Hot 100 and dropped during Drake’s feud with Joe Budden. French also recently contributed additional vocals to Drake’s Scorpion track “Elevate.”

In an interview with Beats 1’s Zane Lowe, French explained that “No Stylist” came together while Drake was working on Scorpion in Miami. “I just played him my music from my album,” he recalled, “And he heard ‘No Stylist’ and fell in love with it and he was like, ‘This is the one you and me should come out with.‘”

Alongside “No Stylist,” French released two additional tracks, “Juice” and “Nervous.” The title and release date of his new album is currently unknown, but the Bronx rapper recently told Billboard that he doesn’t want to rush the project. “I’m going to make sure this one gets the respect it deserves,” he said.
